Legal Basis

The university's equal opportunities officers work towards creating equal opportunities and avoiding disadvantages for female
members and members of the university.

Their tasks also include the realization of the goal that women are represented in
an appropriate manner in the bodies and committees of the university.

They promote the inclusion of gender research topics in the
academic work of the universities.

The Equal Opportunities Officers are involved in all matters that affect
female university members and staff, especially in the case of upcoming personnel measures.

They must be informed and involved in a timely and comprehensive manner; they may inspect application documents.

(§ 72 paragraph 1 HSG LSA)

Role and activities

TaskEqual Opportunities Officers are the legally established representatives for gender equality for all members (students and employees) and members of the university (§ 72 HSG LSA).
WorkThey work towards and help to ensure that equality is taken seriously and implemented as a management and cross-sectional task and they provide information, advice and support in all matters relevant to equality (§ 72 HSG LSA, §§ 15, 18, 19 FrFG LSA).

Participation in the administration of the university

  • Participation in committees
  • Participation in appointments and appointments
  • Promotion of gender in research and teaching/education

Information, counseling, support

  • (among others) in the event of conflicts and problems (especially after misconduct)
  • on regulations and offers
  • on gender in research and teaching/education
  • on own (planned) activities on the topic of equality

  • Collaboration with other actors/ stake holders in the work for equity and equality

  • Qualification and networking about their work and topics relevant for equity and equality
Equal Opportunities Officers elections
  • Equal Opportunities Officers are elected every two years by the female members of the university.
  • All members have the right to stand for election.
  • A total of 11 equality teams will be elected - one team each for the university as a whole, one for each faculty and for the faculty-independent areas.
